Phase Two Curriculum

Introduction

Congratulations on reaching Phase Two! This phase focuses on developing your city further and starting your second city. ITG is here to support your growth - if you need resources, just ask in AC and someone will help you.

Important Notes

  • Advanced buildings should not be built until your city is large enough to support them (after 5,000 population)
  • Most building recommendations don't go past level 12 due to the Exodus operation
  • Complete Exodus research as soon as possible to move out of the newbie ring
  • Warehouse must reach level 20 to research Exodus

Essential Buildings

Resource Production Buildings

  1. Flourmill - Increases food production
  2. Stone Mason - Increases Stone production
  3. Foundry - Increases iron production and opens Blacksmith, Forge and Plate Armourer
  4. Kiln - Increases clay production
  5. Carpentry - Increases wood production and opens Fletching and Bowyer Research

Storage Buildings

  1. Storehouse - Level 15 (opens Warehouse with Inventory Management Research)
  2. Warehouse - Level 20 (opens Inventory Exodus Research)

Other Essential Buildings

  1. Library - Level 12
  2. Consulate - Level 12
  3. Marketplace - Level 12
  4. Mage Tower - Level 12
  5. Tavern - Level 2 (for Trade and Diplomatic quests until Block and Tackle and Inquisitive Populace are received)
  6. Note: Some players find level 8 speeds up discoveries
  7. Paddock - Level 7-12 (for population and profit)
  8. Common Ground - Level 7-12 (for population and profit)
  9. Barracks - Level 12
  10. Blacksmith - Level 12 (chain-mail is an easy source of early income)
  11. Cottages - Build as many as fit (ensure demolition is researched for future space needs)
  12. Brewery - Level 1
  13. Architect Office - Optional (can reduce advanced build times, can be demolished later)

Important Considerations

  • Consider founding a second city after reaching 450 population
  • All resource plots should reach level 12
  • Focus on buildings that support your immediate needs and research goals

Building Strategy

  • Avoid building advanced (tier 2) buildings until your city can support them

Important Note on Tenaril Spell

⚠️ Warning: While tempting, avoid using the Tenaril Spell to move your first city. Although it moves your city instantly, it takes your plots with you. Since you spawn on a 5-food tile, moving with Tenaril means keeping that 5-food tile regardless of destination. Better to Exodus to a 7-food tile first, then use Tenaril if desired.

Building Levels

  • Generally, don't build above level 12 until you decide on permanent city locations
  • Exception: Build higher if you run out of research
  • Key buildings to consider upgrading for research:
  • Marketplace - Enables more van construction
  • Barracks - Enables more military research

Advanced Gameplay

Harvesting and Gathering

  • Caravans harvest: food, gold, wood, clay, iron, and stone
  • Cotters harvest: grapes, herbs, hides, minerals, equipment, and skysplinters
  • Specialized Units:
  • Herbalists: Rare herbs
  • Miners: Rare minerals
  • Skinners: Animal Parts, Salts, and Hearts of Darkness

Crafting

  • Requires Crafting Branch research
  • Needs special buildings and extensive research
  • Note: Crafting guide pending update

Quests

  • Tavern Level 2 enables:
  • Trade quests (level 1)
  • Diplomatic quests (level 2)

  • Higher levels provide:

  • More frequent quests
  • Longer completion times

  • Important discoveries:

  • Inquisitive Populace (earlier detection of hostile diplomatic units)
  • Block and Tackle (faster caravan loading)
